Italian developer Michele Pirovano has released a big update for his minimalist city builder dotAGE, which introduces many new features, bringing the game to version 1.2. Notably, a new elder is arriving in this little world, to celebrate the addition of the Chinese language. This is the Foolish Old Man who moves mountains, Yugong!
Yugong has a new one mechanics all its own: Intensive cultivation. “All crops receive a +1 bonus for every 5 crops in the same group. This means +1 for 5, +2 for 10, and so on.” Explain the official release notewhich invites you to reorganize your layouts accordingly.
When the note talks about move mountainsno joke: Yugong can actually do this by taking advantage of his Pips (the game’s inhabitants), who can perform all tasks in a single turn.
The other news
Yugong also adds larger homes, which however do not allow you to move away from the city center. There are also some new resources and new crops, inspired by Chinese ones. Of course, this Elder also has his own custom map with a long river bisecting it. It is also full of scattered mountain tiles that need to be removed to make room. It will take time to conquer the great plains.
In addition to Yugong, the update balances the events and boons, adding sixteen designed to promote slightly more wacky strategies that can be very effective.
Many also bugs fixed and elements changed to balance the experience. “The goal was to help players who are having trouble getting back into the game, on the one hand, and to make the game more challenging for players who are snowballing, especially on higher difficulties!” wrote the developer.
For the rest we remind you that dotAGE is available on Steam. If you are interested in learning more, you can read our review.
