The Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) has given the green light to the format of the Third Debate between the candidates for the Head of Government from the country’s capital.
This meeting, which will feature the participation of Santiago Taboada Cortina, Clara Marina Brugada Molina and Salomón Chertorivski Woldenberg, will include a new element: the formulation of questions by girls, boys and adolescents.
As agreed by the Provisional Monitoring Commission for the Organization and Holding of Debates, the debate will follow a clear and structured outline:
Candidates will make a two-minute initial message.
Two children will ask questions on the topics of “Security and Justice” and “Urban real estate development planning”, respectively.
Each candidate will have one minute to answer the questions posed by the children.
Candidates will address assigned topics with an opening message, followed by a time slot to present their arguments and a conclusion.
Finally, each candidate will make a two-minute final message.
Order of interventions
The order of interventions was determined by a draw, and was established as follows: Santiago Taboada will start and the debate will conclude, followed by Clara Brugada and Salomón Chertorivski at different moments of the meeting.
In addition, journalists were designated Luisa Cantú Ríos and Pedro Pablo Gamboa Gamboa as moderators of the debatethus ensuring an impartial and professional development of the event.
In another aspect, during the same session of the Commission, the date and details were set for the second debate between the candidates for the Migrant Deputation, scheduled for May 8. Manuel Alejandro Robles Gómez, Raúl de Jesús Torres Guerrero and José Pablo Martínez Villanueva will have the opportunity to present their proposals at this meeting, following an order determined by draw.
With these events, the IECM seeks to promote citizen participation and offer a transparent and democratic space for the exchange of ideas between candidates for public office.
