A collaboration agreement has been reached between the Italian Xplora and the American Sierra Lobo Inc for the fsupply of a mine-resistant drone (RMDS) for the US government and for the Department of Defense market. That’s what you read in one Xplora note.
The system, called SLIX RMDS, is composed of: an unmanned aerial vehicle, a suite of sensors, a communications package, AI/ML-based software and an interface/integration processor. And it can automatically detect land mines in real time and a “map” of mines underground.
The SLIX RMDS has successfully passed the demonstrations carried out in the presence of international defense agencies, law enforcement agencies and representatives of the United States Department of Defense. Institutions appreciated the system’s capabilities and performance.

Sierra Lobo and Xplora will participate in the U.S. Army Maneuver Support & Protection Integration eXperiments 2024 (MSPIX’24) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, in May 2024.
While the SLIX RMDS represents the first entry into the U.S. market, SLI and Xplora are already researching and developing next-generation capabilities with applications ranging from subsurface investigations to military use.
