The centaur Giuseppe Cappucciati dies: the athletics club of which he was a member remembers him as a Superman, kind and altruistic, a true model for young athletes
A Sunday that promised to be full of spring turned into a nightmare for the community of Piacenza. Giuseppe Cappucciatia 57-year-old centaur, died in a tragic accident along state road 45 in Val Trebbia, in Cisiano di Rivergaro.
Known for his kindness and generous spirit, Giuseppe was a much loved figure in his community. Mayor Lodovico Albasi di Travo remembers him fondly, underlining his premature death which caused great mourning throughout the country. On the Corriere della Sera declares with emotion:
“As children, together with his sister Graziella, we played hide and seek in the small hamlet of Scarniago di Travo, a small town where his father was originally from.”
Giuseppe worked as a representative of medicinal products for animals, but his true passion was sport. As a young man he had shone in the decathlon, becoming an Italian silver medallist. She was an example for many young people, not only for her athletic abilities but also for her big heart and her humility.
The drama occurred while Giuseppe was returning from lunch with his mother, when he lost control of the motorbike and ended up against a wooden pole, losing his life instantly. Despite the immediate intervention of the rescue team, equipped with a helicopter, the maneuvers to save him were of no avail.
L’Athletics Piacenza, of which Giuseppe was part, wanted to pay homage to his former athlete with a touching post on Facebook, remembering him as a “superman” for his sporting abilities and his humility. The company promises to always remember him and wishes him to rest in peace.
The athlete Sabina Cappa of the Athletic Society of Piacenza defines him as a “Good Giant”, commenting on the incident.
