Here are the report cards of the starters (and the most assiduous reserves) of Inter, champions of Italy
Yann SOMMER, vote 8: arriving amidst general indifference as a replacement for the choreographer Andrè Onana, he quickly established himself as a silent leader and obtained the “clean sheet” record in Europe.
Emil AUDERO, vote 6: rarely called into question, he responds presently without shining excessively.
Francesco ACERBI, vote 7: less brilliant than last year, when he also managed to cancel out Erling Haaland in the Champions League final, he is feeling the march of time. But he never disappoints.
Stefan DE VRIJ, rating 7.5: he rediscovers his importance in the year of Inter’s second star, carving out an important role for himself.
Benjamin PAVARD, rating 7.5: the most expensive signing of the Inter summer comes together slowly but then turns into the linchpin of the defense with a license to offend.
Yann BISSECK, rating 6.5: it may become important in the future. He scores the goal that gives the victory against Bologna.
Federico DIMARCO, vote 8: Nerazzurri heart, competes with his cousin Theo Hernandez for the role of best left winger in the championship.
Matteo DARMIAN, rating 7.5: always present when needed, he is the extra man Inzaghi relies on when there is something to suffer.
Alessandro BASTONI, rating 8.5: bulwark of the least beaten defense in Italy, he still has room for growth and yet today he is already the strongest central defender in our championship.
Denzel DUMFRIES, vote 6: subdued, at times even listless, the draft of the giant who plowed the right lane last year and the previous one to replace Hakimi. Who knows if it was just a bad year or if there was more to it.
Davide FRATTESI, rating 7.5: an award more for his patience on the bench than for his real contribution. But he scores many important goals, including the one in the first leg derby and the decisive ones in Hellas Verona and Udinese.
Hakan CALHANOGLU, vote 7: sniper from the spot where he never misses, surpasses double figures in the league for the first time in the last ten years. But he is less incisive than other times
Kristjan ASSLANI, rating 6.5: flashes of the future, but also a lot of bench time. The club is focusing on him with their eyes closed, but finding space is not easy
Henrkh MKHITARYAN, rating 7.5: he doesn’t feel the weight of the passing years, he remains the true metronome of the midfield. And he doesn’t mind a few goals, especially the brace against Milan, his favorite target
Nicolò BARELLA, vote 9: without fear of contradiction, the strongest midfielder in Italy. Champion of continuity and determination, a true Nerazzurri
Carlos AUGUSTO, vote 7: he is used as a wildcard in defense and in midfield: he always plays his role with dedication and passion
Marko ARNAUTOVIC, rating 5.5: it’s sad to give a short shrift to a championship-winning player, but his contribution in his second adventure at Inter is modest. He devours incredible goals and spends more time in the infirmary than on the playing field
Marcus THURAM, vote 8: flashes of class, irrepressible speed and assists (7) on the kiss. In between also 11 goals: only four players have done better than him at Inter in the last 20 years
Lautaro MARTINEZ, vote 9: captain and top scorer, he puts his heart and soul into every match, even those in which – understandably – he is not at his best. Without him Inter are small in attack.
Alexis SANCHEZ, rating 6.5: revived, at the last call to a top club he still manages to carve out some space for himself
Simone INZAGHI, vote 9: after three Italian Super Cups and two Italian Cups, Inter’s top champion won the Scudetto at the third attempt. He does so by dominating far and wide a championship that began with a few too many detractors.
