According to Kaspersky, a company specializing in cybersecurity, users of Wi-Fi networks are at risk of being exposed to hacker attacks, but it confirmed at the same time that there are preventive measures against their attacks.
She pointed to the widespread proliferation of free Wi-Fi networks in restaurants, hotels, airports, libraries, and even retail outlets, stressing the importance of users knowing how to protect their devices from hacking.
Kaspersky pointed out that with this spread, hackers began creating fake free Wi-Fi networks to steal user data, calling for absolutely no trust in open networks that do not ask for passwords, and not to consider networks that ask for passwords to be completely reliable either, as A fraudster can easily discover the password and create a fake Wi-Fi point with the same name.
The company advised to turn off the Wi-Fi feature when it is not being used, to protect data.
