First of three GPs at home
The first weekend of May will coincide with the first home race of the Haas of this season. On the Miami street circuitthe American team will take to the track in front of the Florida public and then return to the USA in Austin, for the United States GP, and on another street circuit like that of Las Vegas, a city that returned to F1 last year after the brief parenthesis in the 80s.
Hülkenberg aims for double points
Both events are scheduled for the second half of the World Cup, unlike the one scheduled for the next few days in the area surrounding the Hard Rock Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins' home games in the NFL take place. It is on this track that Haas will try to consolidate or improve its seventh position in the Constructors' standingsmade possible above all by the three placings in the points obtained so far by Nico Hülkenberg, the last of which was in the last race in Shanghai. The German driver himself, however, will contest the first race with his future in F1 already certain, and far from Haas. In fact, the 36-year-old will join Sauber next season: “It's the first of three home races for the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team this season, and the team feels good right now. We are fighting for points when the opportunity arises and we hope to be able to showcase our capabilities in front of our American partners and home fans.”
The details of the track
A hope that his teammate also shares Kevin Magnussenwho reached the 10th place last season: “Miami is a big event for us, the first of three home games – commented – it's a great event, a fantastic track and I personally like the circuit – it's a hybrid road, road course and track, but it has some really good high speed parts. It was one of our best weekends last season, and We hope than with our car this year we can have an even better race. It's a good racing track; there's the straight which is very long and then a hairpin which leads to the main straight, so whatever battle you're in, it tends to continue into turn 1 with another DRS zone. Of course, the US races are challenging for us as we are an American team with many American sponsors, so I'm looking forward to it all week.”
