Marc Marquez ended the day of testing in Jerez de la Frontera with the fifth fastest time, thus having the opportunity to further improve his feeling with the Ducati after having carried out the first races aboard the Desmosedici GP23 of the Gresini Racing team.
The rider from Cervera, despite having the version that won the world title in 2023 and which is now less advanced after the arrival of the GP24, was still able to try the lever brake, a measure adopted by Ducati when it raced in Borgo Panigale Andrea Dovizioso again.
The lever is often operated when exiting corners as if to simulate a sort of natural traction control, without mechanical or electronic devices. Marquez immediately found it useful not so much for finding a more competitive lap time, but for improving braking.
“We tested the basic system during the Grand Prix, in the race they weren't perfect, especially behind other riders. Today in the tests I had a better feeling with the lever. It won't improve the lap time, but I will have more constant braking. I'm a fairly particular driver when braking.”

During his debrief with the press present on the Andalusian track, Marquez also took stock of his future, underlining how his good performances (rather than the results) have attracted various manufacturers with whom he has started talking to see who to race with starting next season.
“The important thing is that the results are arriving. Until last weekend I had shown that I was fast, but the results had not yet arrived. Now let's see if I can confirm myself at Le Mans.”
“I have always said that the faster you go on the track, the more opportunities and seats available on the market you will have. The important thing is that 'the plan' is going well and when the results are there the manufacturers contact me and I have already had the opportunity to speak with They”.
Marc reiterated an important concept, even if implicitly. 2024 is just a transition year that led him to leave Honda – in clear difficulty – and remind everyone how strong he is with a competitive bike, even if it's old, like the 2023 Ducati. “I have things very clear in my head about what I want.”
“I think it depends on everything in general, but the important thing is that I have everything clear and I don't have just one option,” confirmed the champion from Cervera.
