Repeated falls
Among the numerous drivers who did not see the checkered flag waving in the Jerez de la Frontera Sprint race, also Enea Bastianini he finished the race early by one fall occurred at fourth to last lap. The teammate of the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia (who also crashed, in this case due to a rash overtaking attempt by Binder), in fact lost control of his Ducati at the height of curve 5at a point where Binder and Alex Marquez also ended up in the gravel at the same time.
A sensational episode at a point on the track characterized by the presence of some patches of water, the same ones that, even in the previous Moto3 and Moto2 qualifying sessions, had put the 'end' to several riders in their hunt for pole position. Furthermore, in the Sprint, Maverick Viñales, Luca Marini and Stefan Bradl also made errors in that area of the track, all for very similar errors.
The difficulties of Jerez
A race therefore with a hard outcome to accept for Bastianini, who indicated some particularities of the Spanish track, especially when the conditions of the Andalusian track are not completely dry: “It was a very difficult race – he explained to Sky Sport MotoGP – here stains are created on the ground. It's not always easy to do the same things. On the lap I fell I felt like I had done the same thing as the lap before, except that when I saw that there was a patch of water on the ground it was too late. Is watching Moto2 useful? Yes, definitely, but the track changed lap after lap. Here in Jerez the water rises from the asphalt. It's strange, but at the end of the race there were patches of water that weren't there at the start of the race. So it was tricky for that. I tried to pass Binder straight away but I couldn't do it. I waited a moment, I understood where to try and I was ready, but I fell first.”
