Aspyr has announced a new patch for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered arriving will reintroduce in the game i winking posters of Lara Croft that they “inadvertently” had been removed from the gameaccording to what was reported by the developers, with the elements in question which will be visible again with patch 3.
The fact that the previous Patch 2, released in recent days, had removed precisely these decorative elements from the Sleeping With The Fishes (The Lost Artifact) level, had made us think of a targeted action of censorshipto eliminate controversial content and not in line with current sensitivity.
Aspyr instead claims that the removal was a mistake, and that the new patch will make things right. Of course, the fact that all this comes after complaints and controversies from the community about the disappearance of the posters would seem like a bizarre coincidence, but this is the official explanation from the developers.
The removal was a technical error, Aspyr says
“Thank you to the Tomb Raider community for your continued support feedback and support for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered with Lara Croft”, reported Aspyr with an official comment, before explaining what happened and confirming that the posters will return with a future update.
“In the recent Patch 2, we made several graphical and texture updates to the HD version. As part of these updates, Sleeping With The Fishes (The Lost Artifact) posters were inadvertently removed in the HD version of the game. The issue is been resolved and the textures will be restored in patch 3″.
According to Aspyr it was therefore a “problem” regarding the textures of the game, which will be resolved with the patch arriving in the next few days. The elements in question are posters featuring Lara Croft in decidedly flirty poses, in line with the classic look of the character and the original style that characterized her at the time.
We therefore look forward to seeing them return with the next Tomb Raider I-III Remastered patch.
