From the acquisition of Activision Blizzard to the multiplatform strategy, it seems that Microsoft's choices make precise sense and were truly necessary.
THE last quarter results Of Xboxwhich recorded a +51% in gaming revenue but also a -31% in console sales, seem make sense of Microsoft's choices.
On the one hand the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which thanks to well-known hit Call of Duty and the excellent response to Diablo 4 allowed the Redmond house to close the item relating to the gaming division on a clearly positive note.
On the other the new multiplatform strategywhich aims to bring some of the current Xbox exclusives to Sony and Nintendo consoles, starting with a selection of four games that includes Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Pentiment and Hi-Fi RUSH.
From the financial reports it is clear that, had it not been for Activision Blizzard's numbers, Microsoft would have closed the quarter with -5% in game sales. The acquisition therefore produced a fundamental boost in the eyes of shareholders.
As far as the hardware is concerned, we are faced with the worst data since the launch of Xbox Series and it is evidently also why the Redmond house has decided to bring some of its first party titles to other platforms.
What future for Xbox?
In light of the numbers of the last quarter, it seems that Xbox has been able to read the situation and make the right maneuvers to deal with it, even if the future of the Microsoft platform looks like an absolute unknown.
We know that for the next generation Xbox will aim to be ahead of the game by arriving on the market with a year or two ahead of the PS6 and thus trying to carve out its own space, hopefully with features that are truly convincing.
However, we will have to wait until 2026 for this to happen, and until then the hope is that the enormous investments made in recent years bear fruitresulting in that substantial increase in Xbox Game Pass subscribers which unfortunately is struggling to occur.
How do you see the situation? Let's talk about.
