Tens of Los Angeles Police (LAPD) officers have entered the University of Southern California (USC) this afternoon, with the aim of reinforcing security on the university campus.
The above, after hundreds of students gathered in a demonstration which has brought together hundreds of young people from various educational institutions, to protest the war in Gaza.
LAPD officers have used megaphones to inform protesters that they have 10 minutes to evacuate the university campus, in an attempt to maintain order and safety during the event.
Clashes between students and police
In a day marked by tension, Hundreds of students from the universities of Texas and Southern California violently clashed with police forces during pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
At USC, the Police tried to dismantle a Gaza support camp, which generated resistance from students and resulted in numerous arrests. Similar situations were recorded at the University of Texas at Austin, where at least 20 students were detained after police intervention.
Local media reported that at least 17 pro-Palestinian students were detained by police in Texas, while 20 arrests were reported in Californiaaccording to the Austin American-Statesman and The Texas Tribune.
These incidents have increased political tension in the United States and generated an intense debate about the right to protest and security on university campuses.
