Nintendo Switch 2 It hasn't been announced yet but everyone takes it for granted. After the success of the current big N console, it is easy to think that the new platform will be similar, but the market has changed in the meantime and there are new competitors, such as Steam Deck. Will Nintendo's platform therefore be able to rival, for example, in terms of power? In a new video Digital Foundry discussed the topic by stating that Nintendo Switch 2 it will hardly be more powerful than Steam Deck but that doesn't count.
The newspaper explains that Nintendo Switch 2 will receive ports of dedicated games and that it will support NVIDIA DLSS, which will allow you to run games at a lower resolution but get good graphics quality. Furthermore, Steam Deck is not that big of a platform in the console market, so there won't be all that competition, even considering that it's meant for a different audience.
Nintendo Switch is a good example in this sense, as it got ports like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, which many thought were impossible. The same could happen with Nintendo Switch 2 according to Digital Foundry.
Nintendo Switch 2 vs PS4/Xbox One: who would win?
It is then explained that, in terms of performance, Nintendo Switch 2 it should be in line with the previous generation.
At the same time, the console's CPU and GPU they would be superior to those of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, therefore they could allow the console to obtain higher results than expected, depending on the game, and to obtain better results than Steam Deck.
Ultimately, belonging to very different architectures, a direct comparison is difficult and the power of the console could be used differently to obtain similar, if not better, results. One area where the Nintendo console may have an advantage over the Steam Deck is the battery which could offer a better user experience, according to Digital Foundtry.
We also point out that Nintendo Switch 2 will perhaps use Samsung's fifth generation V-NAND.
