Mario is a character who has traveled to space, visited volcanoes and has been on endless adventures that put his life at risk. While it is true that we are talking about a fictional character, this does not mean that he does not feel some type of pain when dying. Thus, the producer of the series has finally revealed if Mario is capable of feeling pain or not.
In a recent interview with The Verge, Takashi Tezuka, designer and producer of the series, was asked about the possibility that Mario feels pain when he dies every time we play. Although the Japanese are able to see this question in a funny way, offers a philosophical answer that no one saw coming. This is what he said about it:
“If the player feels that Mario is in pain, that's a better experience, rather than talking about whether Mario is actually in pain.”
This way, everything falls on the person who has control. The thought that Mario feels pain every time he dies in one of his adventures It can be an element that drives us to improve and prevent the plumber from being defeated. At least this is the perspective that tries to approach this question in a philosophical way. If we talk logically, then there is nothing to wonder about.
So everything depends on each person.. On related topics, Suda51 compares his new game with Super Mario Bros. Likewise, here you can see the new trailer for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Author's Note:
It's a funny question, but at the end of the day it has a very personal answer. It is a way to motivate the player to do their best. Whether Mario is capable of feeling pain or not, what is important is what the user does with this information.
