“They belong to a missing mother” the human remains found on the highway solve a mystery that seemed impossible

A cold case from 40 years ago has finally been solved thanks to scientific technology: the mystery has been revealed.

Almost 40 years have passed since some human remains were found along the edges of a highway. However, the investigations reached a turning point thanks to the result obtained from the DNA test.

Here's what was discovered about this mystery.

A mystery that has lasted for 40 years: human bones found on the highway

We are in the United States and more precisely in the Smith County. Some workers working along the highway of the place they make a macabre discovery which pushes them to immediately contact the police.

Someone human bones they are in fact found along the edge of the road. We are in October 1985 and therefore we are not yet in possession of technological tools that will allow us to understand the identity of the victim.

However, it is said that those bones belong to one mom very young and disappeared a year earlier in that very area. Her name is Sindy Gina Crow. The Dallas Institute of Forensic Medicine took care of the investigation and managed to identify the ethnicity of the woman, a white girl of about 25 years old.

However, the case was closed, but many people never accepted the fact that the matter had not been properly investigated. Among these the detective David Turner, who swears to himself that he would solve this mystery before he dies.

The turning point in the investigation thanks to the DNA test

After several years, the investigations relating to this case continued to give life to a project which came to fruition in 2021. This is a non-profit investigation known as DNA DOE which allowed us to conduct targeted analyzes on the human remains found many years earlier.

Turner managed to get in touch with a family who was most likely that of the missing woman and all this thanks to footprints and the genealogy. Unfortunately the result gave positive results as the genetic information of the victim's mother corresponded to those found at the discovery site.

The family in question was therefore able to accept the disappearance of her daughter and mourn her after many years of uncertainty. The Police instead put the new technological and scientific tools to the test by solving a problem cold-case dating back approximately 40 years.
