Ferrari, developments are needed
Seeing the detachment that in China there Ferrari has accumulated from Red Bull (23 seconds but only thanks to the Safety Car) one might think that the SF-24 needs a development package as important as the one that the RB20 has been able to exploit since Suzuka.
The Red, however, it was also significantly inferior to the McLaren, which has not yet brought developments (he will have a good package in Miami). Today – at least with Lando Norris – the Woking team has outclassed the Ferraris on hard tyre: the updates can therefore improve the situation but always in relation to the growth of the others. And especially in Florida, Ferrari will have to significantly increase their pace in qualifying if they want to have a satisfying weekend.
Vasseur's words
On the issue of developments, Vasseur was clear: “In the factory the boys are working day and night to bring updates for upcoming races, and I can't ask for more. We have already anticipated some small pieces and we are pushing like crazy“, this is his comment to Sky Sports F1.
“We must also consider that it is not easy to bring something new to the Sprint events because there is an hour of free practice. We haven't changed plans because we are already pushing hard. I think the problem this weekend was that we weren't able to extract what we could from the car's potential. We need to do a better job in qualifying: with a front row, and I don't think it was out of reach, it would definitely have been a different race. I think yesterday the pace was better than Norris's“.
