The controversies over the Norris case
The Sprint qualifications of the Chinese Grand Prix brought smiles to the McLaren for the pole position for Lando Norris, not without some doubts about the decision taken by the Race Direction. At first, in fact, the Federation had canceled the Englishman's time, guilty of having exceeded the track limits of the last corner in the previous round. However, a few moments after Hamilton's pole, the Stewards revalidated Norris's final lap, faster than that of the seven-time world champion and therefore decisive for jumping to the top of the standings.
From pole to 8th place
A decision that has sparked controversy and protests, with the Woking team however able to look forward to tomorrow's race with one of its drivers ahead of everyone on the starting grid. The main objective will obviously be to defend the leadership until the checkered flag, as well as to be able to facilitate the comeback fromeighth position of Oscar Piastri.
The mistake in the decisive lap
In an SQ3 made complex by the conditions of wetthe Australian (like many other riders) made a mistake that compromised the possibility of being able to obtain a placing even closer to the front row, as the #81 admitted: “A contrasting day. Unfortunately the Sprint qualifications did not end as we wanted – commented – I had a little wheel spin, I put it in gear and I found the crowdwhich it was frustrating because I think we could have been higher, but I didn't do enough in the last lap. I'm happy for Lando and I think overall we are more promising than we expected, but the pace in general is difficult to judge. We'll take a look overnight and see what we can do ahead of qualifying and tomorrow's Grand Prix.”
