Alpine has nothing to lose: the Enstone team must try to get back on top after having sunk to last place in the Constructors' standings with zero points after four GPs contested.
Bruno Famin is encouraging the technical staff to react to the difficulties of this annus horribilis: the French team principal has approved the advance payment of part of the aerodynamic package that should have arrived in Miami, after the new front wing had debuted in Japan.

The fund has been entrusted to Esteban Ocon, while Pierre Gasly will receive it on the occasion of the American event, since only the supply for one machine has arrived ready, as there are not enough spare parts.

The most striking change is observed at the trailing edge of the pavement in front of the rear wheels: immediately after the side wing (the long scimitar positioned overhanging the floor with three metal sealing elements) a conspicuous opening opens showing an interesting double slot useful for channeling a flow into the bottom that should help generate the aerodynamic load that is missing from the A524, a car born badly and with problems. In fact, like Williams, Alpine also started the championship without a spare chassis for the simple reason that the first one built was destroyed during a homologation crash test which was failed.
In the opening of the bottom you can observe a flow diverter that laminates the air: the aerodynamicists are convinced that Alpine can begin a rise in the Manufacturers' ranking, given that an official team has slipped to the tail of the customer teams…
