This Tuesday, the European Commission opened a new call to distribute 35,500 train tickets to young people who come of age during this period so that they can travel for free for a maximum of 30 days throughout all the countries of the European Union and other neighboring countries.
Thus, Europeans born between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006 have until noon on April 30 to submit their application through the community youth portal (youth.europa.eu/discovereu_en). Successful candidates will get a free train voucher to travel around Europe for up to 30 days between July 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025.
The call is open to both citizens of the European Union and countries associated with the Erasmus + program, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey. Participants will also receive a discount card for more than 40,000 possibilities for public transport, culture, accommodation, food, sports and other services in the countries eligible for the routes.
Furthermore, to help the young people awarded with the free voucher prepare their route, the national Erasmus+ agencies will organize information sessions and preparation courses of up to three days. The project also provides specific support during the trip for participants with a disability or health problem that requires assistance.
