Morbidelli and Marini stopped at zero
The 2024 MotoGP World Riders' Championship ranking after three races sees only two riders stuck with zero points: Luca Marini And Franco Morbidelli. The Honda rider finished today in sixteenth and last position, being overtaken at the end by Alex Marquez, who had previously crashed like his brother Marc. The Gresini rider got back on his Desmosedici and grabbed the last available point, finishing seven tenths ahead of Marini.
So neither does Austin revived Honda winner a year ago with Alex Rins ahead of Luca Marini, who 12 months ago achieved in Texas what remains his best result in MotoGP considering the Sunday Grands Prix.
The other three RC213Vs did not see the checkered flag. Johann Zarco retired while Takaaki Nakagami and Joan Mir crashed. Honda thus leaves Texas with no points under his belt. Franco Morbidelli also fell, a slip that prevented the Ducati Pramac rider from picking up the first points which he only just missed yesterday when he finished in tenth position (in the Sprint they get points from the top nine).
