Max the dominator
In the first four races of 2024 Max Verstappen he collected three victories. The withdrawal in Melbourne prevents him from having already accumulated a huge advantage in the standings over the competition, but the impressive statistical data of 20 successes collected in the last 22 GPs leaves little doubt as to who is the absolute favorite to win this season's world title, which would be the fourth consecutive in career for the Dutchman.
Should he hit poker, Verstappen would find himself in the company of Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost, the other four tetra-champions in the history of F1. Only Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton did better than them. Prost himself, in an interview given to the famous American magazine Sports Illustratedhighlighted how, however, the last world championship victories of the class of '97 arrived swithout much opposition by its rivals.
Prost's suggestion to Ferrari and Mercedes
“Max is one, if not the best Formula 1 driver currently, we have to accept that. But a championship is worth more to whoever wins it when there is a battle between two or three teams”, commented the Professor. To explain the lack of competition brought against Verstappen and Red Bull by the other top teams on the grid, Prost also indicated incorrect – in his opinion – management of the drivers.
“Mercedes and Ferrari would have a better chance iflike Red Bull, they found a real first pilot and focus more on this. It's a shame they don't have it at the moment. Let's hope that next year they do it and then there could be another great battle.”concluded Prost.
