At the foot of the podium
The growth and learning path of Pedro Acosta in MotoGP it is continuing at a dizzying pace. After the third place achieved in the Portuguese GP, also favored by the problem of which Maverick Vinales was the victim on the last lap, the GasGas rookie arrived fourth in the Austin Sprint racecollecting his best placing of the season in the short races on Saturday.
The two-time world champion gave a spectacular show on the track as usual, battling for a long time with Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin. In the end, however, the shark from Mazarron, who is currently fifth in the world rankings, narrowly failed to maintain third position. The final 'wooden medal' certainly didn't please him, but Acosta, commenting on the race on the Spanish site ASit turned into philosopher.
Acosta insatiable
“In the end it's like love, you have to suffer to improve – commented the Spaniard – in the Sprint we came so close [al podio] which hurt a lot and this will make us improve for the long race. Marc and Jorge were smarter than me. That's all. I think I did a lot of laps behind Marc and maybe riding the same line as the Ducati made us use a little too much tyre, but overall we were there. It was the first day in which we qualified as God commands, the first day in which we made a start as God commands and the first day in which we were really fighting for the podium.”.
“None of those who come here do so to be beaten – Acosta added – And [il podio] it was so close, so doable, that [averlo perso] it hurts like hell. Thinking as a rookie though, it was a very good Saturday and it was the closest Sprint race to the podium we've ever had. Little by little we must improve on these aspects, so as not to always have to pay the price of the novitiate”.
