Microsoft is starting to test the insertion of advertising In the Start menu Of Windows 11with the use of the “recommended” section which should start suggesting some apps to download or use for different uses.
Usually, this section contains recommendations on files, but with this new version it should begin to indicate possible apps to use for these purposes, at least in this non-final form of the software.
This test will only be visible to Windows Insider inside the Beta Channel in the USA and will not be included in commercial devices and those managed by organizations, according to what Microsoft reported, but obviously this is only a phase in the evolution of the system, so we are waiting to see how the issue will develop.
It is not the first experiment in this sense
In any case, the promotion of apps on the menu can be deactivated in the Windows 11 settings, however the advertisements will be active by default, so they will have to be removed manually by accessing the options, if you want to remove them.
This is clearly a test phase, so Microsoft will collect feedback and reports during this part of the test to understand whether it is actually appropriate to include the functionality permanently in the full version of the operating system.
It is not the first time that a similar solution has been tested: Microsoft had already started testing the inclusion of some advertisements in File Explorer last year, only to then disable the issue before reaching the beta phase.
