Petrucci injury, the Barni team changes
Danilo's knockout Petrucci following the frightening motocross accident forces the team Barni to review the plans for the Assen Superbike weekend. The Petruxwho suffered a fracture of the right collarbone and jaw, will miss the Dutch weekend: in his place the Bergamo team will field Nicholas Spinelli, 2002 Italian champion in the Supersport class. For the latter, this is the debut in the series derivatives.
Petrucci will remain at the “Le Torrette di Ancona” hospital until Monday to operate on his collarbone, after the operation to reduce the fracture of the jaw. The goal of the Terni native is to be on track not only in the Misano round (14-16 June), but already in the tests two weeks before which will also be held at the “Marco Simoncelli”.
Petrucci's words
“I'm really saddened by this injury. I was really fit, I felt I could do good results and that's why I was training even harder. It has never happened to me that I had to miss a race due to an accident with the motocross bike, but I won't be there at Assen“, commented Petrucci. “With the plates they inserted I wouldn't even be able to put on a helmet. By mutual agreement with the doctors we have also decided to operate on the collarbone, I would like to be at the Misano tests at the end of May“.
Spinelli's words
“I'm very sorry for Danilo's accident and I hope he gets better soon, but I'm really happy with this call. Racing with the big names in Superbike is a dream come true, I will do my best to do well and enjoy this experience. A big thank you to Marco Barnabò and the whole team who still believes in me after the season we had together“, added Spinelli.
