Upheavals in the race and in the standings
The first of the two Misano E-Prix provided a continuous spectacle over the 28 laps in total, including an unknown number of overtakings, contacts and uncertainties about the winner of the race until the checkered flag was shown. It was at the end that he climbed to the top step of the podium Antonio Felix da Costa, winner for the first time this year and the sixth different driver to triumph in the first six races of the championship. While waiting for the second test, scheduled for Sunday 14th April at 3pm, in the meantime, from a world championship perspective, the person who reached the finish line in 2nd place today can celebrate: Oliver Rowland.
In full struggle for leadership
The British driver from Nissan, thanks to this podium finish, is now at the top of the world championship standings 5 points ahead of Jake Dennis, who also finished behind him in the race. A result made possible both for the results of both drivers and for the two twists that excluded the former leader from the points zone Pascal Wehrlein and Nick Cassidy, who ended up at the back following contact with Jean-Eric Vergne, who was then penalized 5 seconds for the incident which heavily damaged the Australian's Jaguar. In this way the fight for the 'podium' begins, with Wehrlein third and stopped at 63 points, two points ahead of Cassidy and 3 over Gunther. The gap between is also closing Jaguar and Porsche: the British manufacturer remains in command of the team rankings, but Da Costa's success brings the Stuttgart team to -3 from the leadership.
