Motocross training is not experiencing its luckiest moment: after Andrea Dovizioso's bad accident a few days ago, today Danilo Petrucci also suffered a fall while turning at Cingoli, suffering a fracture of his right collarbone and jaw.
The Barni team announced it through a post on social media, reassuring about the rider's condition and stating that he has always remained conscious. However, the rider from Terni was transported to hospital, where he will undergo surgery to resolve the fractures.
After the first two rounds of the Superbike season, Danilo Petrucci occupies sixth position in the rider standings and is the second best independent, only behind Andrea Iannone. This first part of 2024, which started in a positive way, seems to have taken a decidedly different turn.
In the press release issued by the team there was no mention of recovery times or whether or not he will be present at the Dutch round, which will be held next weekend. It is not uncommon to see riders taking to the track after collarbone surgery (let's remember Jorge Lorenzo, who in 2013 broke his collarbone at Assen and returned to the track only 36 hours later). However, the shoulder operation and the fractured jaw complicate the situation for Petrucci, who we hope to see back on track as soon as possible.
