Slay the Spire 2 was announced by Mega Crit with a trailer published during the Triple-I Initiative event: theexit of the game will happen during 2025 in early access on Steam, but for the moment the details are few.
As you may remember, Slay the Spire sold more than a million copies rather quickly and it was therefore obvious that the developers were working on a sequel, which however at the moment It has no confirmed platforms other than PC.
“Civilization waited 1,000 years for the Spire to reopen its doors. Return to the Spire and face friend and foe in this sequel to the ultimate roguelike deckbuilder. How high will you rise… and what truths lie at the top?”, we read in the synopsis of the game on Steam.
The news
Slay the Spire 2 has been redesigned from the ground up with a new graphics engine, meaning that Mega Crit has effectively abandoned Unity after the fierce controversy of the past few months. We are therefore talking about completely new graphics and improved modding capabilities.
“The success of Slay the Spire comes from our community!”, wrote the team about the renewed approach in early access. “It sounds trivial, but many of you have bitten off more than you can chew to report issues, translate content/ads, create long video essays, make excellent (lol) tier lists, and draw silly or awesome fan art – that's why we're doing all this again. We love our job!”
