Microsoft has announced a substantial change to the interface of its Xbox Cloud Gaming, the platform that allows you to play Xbox cloud titles via web browser: it will integrate social features and a user interface (UI) inspired by the Xbox dashboard. This innovation includes access to a web version of Xbox party chat, allowing you to join conversations with friends directly from a browser, without the need to resort to the dedicated Xbox desktop and mobile apps.
The update doesn't stop there: the web interface will be enriched with functions that allow you to find and manage friends on Xbox, send messages, view user profiles and achievements, and access notifications. Microsoft is testing these innovations in beta with the Xbox Insiders group, with the aim of subsequently extending them to all Xbox Cloud Gaming users.
One of the most interesting features is the compatibility of the interface with smart TVs and Meta Quest VR headsets, thus expanding the possibilities of using the platform. The Xbox Cloud Gaming interface, which already reflected the Home screen UI of the Xbox consoles, is now enriched with further functions aimed at improving the user experience. Previously, many of these features were only accessible by launching a cloud game on Xbox.
Microsoft is also introducing new gaming hubs to its Xbox app for Windows, giving PC players the ability to track game progress, access additional content, and hear from developers directly within the Xbox app. Additionally, the April update for the Xbox console, which begins its rollout to all consoles today, includes the option to turn off Discord soundboard sounds, notifications for game capture storage on OneDrive, and new options to restrict the installation of games or apps on your Xbox console.
