Andretti doesn't give up
After long negotiations for a possible entry of the team Andretti Cadillac as the eleventh team entered in the Formula 1 world championship, last January the definitive 'no' came from Liberty Media for the green light for the US team, despite the previous promotion from the FIA. A failure which thus did not allow the team founded by Michael Andretti to have all the credentials to participate in the 2025 or 2026 world championship, causing a strong sense of disappointment.
The project continues with a new structure in England
However, the dream of the son of Mario Andretti, 1978 world champion, has not been definitively cancelled. Waiting to resubmit a new application for the 2028the year in which another American company such as General Motors will enter, the Indianapolis team has in the meantime extended its borders beyond the United States, creating a new facility at Silverstone Park, in the United Kingdom. The team has officially inaugurated this location with a statement on its website, in which 80 people from Andretti Cadillac UK will also work.
The details for the big leap
For Andretti it is therefore another decisive step to finally complete a project linked to entry into Formula 1, which has been awaited for some time: “The new 48,000 square meter building is a milestone for Andretti Global – it is read – it is an independent property in its own name, with the possibility of increasing activities based on the evolution of the situation. The flexible space will house manufacturing facilities, including model and machine shops, WMD, electronics, R&D and additional offices and meeting rooms. This new space will continue to work alongside our Andretti headquarters in Indiana and our Formula E facility in Banbury, and will be a place of collaboration for our global family of race teams. To date, the F1 project was split between operations in Silverstone, Indiana, and the GM Tech Center in North Carolina. Our preparations began some time ago, focusing on critical tasks such as assembling key personnel and concentrating on long-term tasks such as aerodynamic design, mechanical design and vehicle dynamics. The new facility will be completed in phases based on commercial and sporting needs and workforce requirements. We said that our work continues at a rapid pace, and this new factory is proof of this. While we are building an American work team, having a European base is a great way to attract the best F1 talent and install cutting-edge machinery“.
