Thanks to the pandemic, Animal Crossing: New Horizons It became an overnight success. With more than 44 million units sold, many are eagerly awaiting new information about the future of this series. Fortunately, the first details about the next installment are already here, and It seems that we will still have to wait a couple of years to enjoy this installment.
According to a new report from GameRant, The next Animal Crossing game would be available until 2026, so it would reach the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Although this means that the wait would be six months, everything seems to indicate that the Big N is using this time to offer us an experience that manages to give us something different from what we saw in New Horizons.
On this occasion, the next Animal Crossing would be inspired by City Folk, the Wii installment. Not only would many classic elements of the series be back, but the new game would include a larger city with vehicles for transportation, as well as a shopping center that would allow players to sell their designs to other users.
This is not all, since there is also talk of the inclusion of minigames and other elements focused on multiplayer. Although all this sounds very interesting, let's remember that Nintendo has not shared official information about this title, and it is very likely that they will not do so until, if possible, 2025 or 2026.
However, it is very likely that this new installment will not be as successful as New Horizons. Let us remember that the Switch title sold millions of units in an unexpected way thanks to the pandemic. Because players were locked down, the virtual world of this title allowed all users to live with friends and family in a way that was impossible at the time.
We just have to see what will happen with the next Animal Crossing, which would arrive on the Switch 2 at some point in 2026. On related topics, Animal Crossing becomes the best-selling game in this region. Likewise, this is what the Animal Crossing LEGO set looks like.
Editor's Note:
No matter how good the next Animal Crossing is, it will never reach sales of New Horizons, and that's something Nintendo and its investors have to take into consideration. I don't doubt that it is a good product and has a good commercial performance, but reaching 40 million units sounds like something impossible.
