The German airline Lufthansa continues today, Friday, a new round of negotiations over the wage dispute that it began yesterday, Thursday, with the “Ovo” union representing cabin crew, according to what was reported from sources in the negotiations.
No details have been announced regarding the content of the negotiations, and Lufthansa has not yet confirmed the start of the negotiations yesterday.
The union refrained from organizing a new strike during the recent Easter season. The union is demanding a 15% increase in wages for about 18,000 air hosts at Lufthansa, along with about 1,000 others at Lufthansa’s City Line airline, through a new 18-month collective labor contract. The union is also demanding a grant of 3,000 euros ($3,250) per host as compensation for high inflation and increased bonuses.
However, negotiations are currently only being conducted for employees of the main airline. The union carried out a strike on March 12, which paralyzed Lufthansa flights. The union also spoke yesterday about progress in negotiations with Discover Airlines, which is owned by Lufthansa, and which has not yet implemented a collective wage agreement.
The union announced on its website that it had been able to identify negotiating topics, such as vacation, work planning, significant increases in total wage categories and additional wage components.
According to the data, there are still two expected dates to discuss the social partnership between the company and the union. The dispute with Discover has put pressure on negotiations with its parent company, Lufthansa. Today also begins arbitration for about 25,000 employees of private aviation security companies, who examine passengers, luggage, cargo and employees at airports on behalf of the Federal Police, with the exception of the state of Bavaria.
Several waves of warning strikes have already been carried out here at different airports.
