The nephew of a Russian senator was found with an unregistered weapon. Where did Isa Geremeev take the machine guns and pistols?

In the car of the nephew of Russian senator Suleiman Geremeev, traffic police officers found an arsenal of weapons without permits.

Isa Geremeev got into a minor accident. When examining the scene of the accident, police found four machine guns, seven pistols and 701 rounds of ammunition in the trunk of his Mercedes-Benz S650. Tatyana Lazina, assistant to State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, clarified that Isa was not detained.

Lazina later clarified that law enforcement officers found not a firearm in the car, but equipment for playing laser tag, which the man was taking to the competition.

Suleiman Geremeev first became a senator from Chechnya in 2009. Commenting on this appointment, the head of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov spoke about his experience and integrity. Geremeev previously served as Kadyrov's assistant. He was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.

Former senator from Chechnya found himself at the center of a weapons scandal

In 2020, it was reported that former senator from Chechnya, businessman Umar Dzhabrailov lost his weapon. Dzhabrailov contacted law enforcement agencies with a missing person report. According to the businessman, he lost the gun back in 2016.

Prior to this, the ex-senator, fined in 2017 for shooting while on drugs near the Kremlin, asked to return the award pistol from which he shot in an elite hotel in the center of the capital, but later changed his mind. The weapon was confiscated from him by court order. On August 29, 2017, Dzhabrailov carried out a shooting at the Four Seasons Hotel. He was charged with hooliganism committed with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons. He was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the shooting. Later he was sentenced to a fine of 500 thousand rubles. After this, the former senator was expelled from the United Russia party.
