This step embodies the department's belief in the importance of creating a safe and healthy work environment that takes into account environmental sustainability, so that employees can enjoy happiness and job well-being, which reflects positively on their performance, the results of institutional goals, and society as a whole.
The guide prepared by the department in accordance with the “Dubai Government Human Resources Management Law No. 8 of 2018”, and the military human resources legislation in the Emirate of Dubai, contributes to establishing a culture of occupational health, safety and environmental risk management, and encourages departments to create a safe and healthy work environment that takes into account the relevant conditions and standards. With the aim of ensuring readiness to confront, address or reduce relevant risks.
The department is responsible for implementing this guide and providing the necessary resources for the success of related initiatives and programmes.
The Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, stressed the importance of this guide, which reflects the UAE’s approach and the vision of the wise leadership that supports happiness, quality of life, occupational health and safety, and the environment in the workplace in various fields that serve people wherever they are.
He said that this guide is applied to all employees working in the department, with the aim of creating a unified reference for occupational health, safety and environment for Dubai government employees, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, laws, regulations and standards, managing occupational health and safety risks, and ensuring the development of appropriate key performance indicators to measure the impact of implementing policies and initiatives. Occupational health, safety and environment programmes, institutional capacity building, and establishing a culture of occupational health, safety and environmental risk management in the department.
He added: “As part of the ongoing efforts to achieve excellence in government performance and enhance happiness and productivity in the work environment, the launch of the (Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Guide in the Dubai Government) represents a strategic step in line with the vision of our wise leadership for the future, as this guide embodies our commitment to standards of quality and excellence. The guide is divided into chapters that include the general framework of the occupational health, safety and environment guide, occupational health and safety management, risk management, job well-being, office work environment and models.
The guide confirms that the success of occupational health, safety and environment management depends largely on the commitment of senior management and the presence of a supportive culture that enhances confidence among employees and provides opportunities for specialized learning and development in the field of occupational health, safety and environment.
The guide includes seven general pillars that lead to its effective and efficient implementation, which include legislative and regulatory compliance, providing resources related to the system, establishing a culture of occupational and environmental health and safety, awareness and training, engaging interested parties, accountability and transparency, as well as clarifying the tasks and responsibilities assigned to the various parties concerned, such as The Human Resources Department, the relevant department and organizational unit, and the employee.
