A flying luminous object was spotted on the border of Iran and Iraq. Videos began appearing on Iranian social networks on the night of April 5.
The object was first spotted over the city of Ahwaz in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan, bordering Iraq, and then in Iraq itself.
“Two videos, [показывающие] the sky of Ahvaz and [воздушное пространство] in Iraq near Khuzestan. Explanations regarding the nature of this object have not yet been published,” the Jamaran agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.
Earlier in the day, media reported that the CIA and current and former US officials had warned Israel of a likely Iranian attack within 48 hours. According to their information, Tehran is preparing to attack Israeli territory with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles.
On April 1, the Israel Defense Forces attacked the Iranian consulate in Syria, killing two generals of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, as well as five officers accompanying them. In total, 13 people were killed as a result of the strike.
Iranian religious leader Ali Khamenei has vowed to launch an “equivalent” strike against Israel in response to the destruction of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus on April 1.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected Israeli territory to massive rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, and also invaded the border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. That same day, Israel began retaliating against targets in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinians are seeking to return the borders between the two countries to the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War. Palestine wants to create its own state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel refuses the conditions set.
