The 'hidden pact' that, according to the PP, PSOE and Vox would have reached in Cieza seems to be beginning to see the light. This Thursday, Abascal's party put forward a proposal, supported by the socialists, to reduce the mayor's salary by 18% and leave two popular councilors without remuneration. In addition, they agreed to the complete release of a PSOE councilor and another from Vox, who will receive 38,000 euros in 14 payments. This will mean an increase of 11,000 euros per year compared to what the councilors freed from the opposition in the municipality received until now.
The Plenary agreement means leaving councilor María Turpín, who is in charge of Tourism, Museums, Culture, Education, Library, Reading Promotion, Music School, Animal Welfare and Easter, without salary. The same thing happens with Gertrudis Juliá, who leads Social Policy, Immigration, Family, Childhood, Early Care, Industry, Commerce, Hospitality and Celebrations. With this readjustment, the mayor, Tomás Rubio, will earn 43,000 gross euros per year, compared to the 53,200 that he received until now. It is the same that the previous socialist mayor received.
The motion was presented 'in extremis' by Vox in the ordinary session that was held last night. On another point on the agenda, the 'alliance' between PSOE and Vox neutralized the Local Government Board, as the Municipal Plenary itself assumed all its powers. Despite the government no longer being there, Vox could take control of practically all decisions when they have the support of the socialists.
PSOE and Vox also agreed to reject a popular motion, replaced by another socialist one, that requested the preparation of a regulation for the appointment of an official chronicler. Vox spokesperson, Pascual Egea, stated that his group “will never support any proposal that the PP brings to the plenary session.”
