The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services revealed that it contributed to saving the lives of 90 people whose heart stopped during the year 2023. It also contributed to achieving a response to the rescue and ambulance of 235,394 people during the year 2023, and achieved a record response time to reports, with an average of 7.5 minutes, with an improvement rate of 13%. Compared to 2022.
These achievements reflect the great attention paid by the wise leadership to the health sector and enabling it to provide the best health services and develop its infrastructure in a way that keeps pace with Dubai’s position in this field, meets the aspirations of society and enhances the quality of life in the emirate.
His Excellency Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, explained that thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership, it was able to provide a global model for the ambulance and emergency medicine system, in a way that achieves the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. The Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, has called for Dubai to be a global model in the advancement of health services, including the emergency medicine sector, by providing it with qualified personnel and competencies, developing and improving the quality of medical care provided to pre-hospital patients, as well as providing high quality services that ensure the happiness of customers and contribute to Achieving the goals of the Dubai Community Agenda 2033.
His Excellency said: “The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, through its strategic projects to develop the ambulance work system in the Emirate of Dubai, was able, during the past year 2023, to achieve record numbers in providing its services to members of the community, as it received 205,200 reports of various cases, ranging from simple, medium, and critical, and its ambulance crew provided Health care was provided to 235,394 people in the same year, including transporting 69,647 emergency cases and 26,816 non-emergency cases to government and private hospitals, and providing health care for the remaining cases in the Al-Balagh site, achieving life-saving cases of 90 people whose heart stopped, an increase of 21% over the previous year for cardiac resuscitation and rescue cases. Life, with an average response time to emergency reports of 7.5 minutes, and an improvement rate of 13% compared to 2022.
Al Ketbi added: “As part of the Corporation’s keenness to provide a rapid response that is compatible with the needs of Dubai’s residents and visitors, and within the framework of the Dubai Urban Plan, the Corporation created 12 emergency points during the past year, bringing the number of the Corporation’s emergency points to 133 points distributed across the regions of Dubai.”
He continued: “The institution is unique and distinguished by its specialized first aid services to meet the needs of different groups in society, and it is managed and operated by 1,375 diverse cadres of emergency doctors, paramedics, emergency medicine technicians, and emergency responders who work around the clock to preserve the lives of the community.”
Al Ketbi stressed that the Foundation was keen to appreciate the female element and its role, as it was keen to make efforts to empower them in support of the strategy of the United Arab Emirates in this field, as they are an effective element in the development process in the country, as the female element occupies 21% of the total employees of the Foundation.
Event coverage
The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services succeeded in covering important events at the level of the Emirate of Dubai, which numbered 42 different events with a total number of hours of 5,000 hours, which included coverage of important occasions such as Eid and New Year events, local and international races, and international exhibitions and conferences. The Corporation also succeeded in presenting 154 programs. It provided a training course for the government sector, from which 11,159 employees benefited, while it provided the private sector with 88 programs from which 3,952 beneficiaries benefited in 2023, as part of its plan for training and community awareness. The awareness plan also included the target groups of people of determination, children, senior citizens, and worker groups. During the same year, it organized 64 awareness programs, the number of beneficiaries of which reached 17,034.
Organizational tasks
As part of its regulatory tasks for ambulance services in the Emirate of Dubai, the Corporation last year licensed 120 training centers that provide first-aid courses and programs and 62 health facilities or hospitals that provide ambulance services, in addition to licensing professionals to private entities, whose number reached 732, including 188 trainers, 311 paramedics, and 233 operators.
