CNN: Gaza war could force Biden and Netanyahu to leave office
The war in the Gaza Strip could force US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to leave their posts. This is reported by CNN.
As the publication notes, the April 4 conversation between Biden and Netanyahu will highlight the glaring contradiction in US policy regarding the war in Gaza, since the conflict potentially poses an existential threat to their political careers. “It is possible that the crisis could ultimately force both of them to leave their posts,” the publication said.
Even as the US leader criticizes the way Israel conducts military operations in Gaza and demands that Tel Aviv change procedures to protect civilians, the US administration is moving towards approving the sale of F-15 military aircraft to Israel worth $18 billion.
Washington also fears that Israel's actions could spark the kind of regional conflict that Biden has been desperate to avoid. “A strike on senior Iranian officers in Syria, which the United States attributes to Israel, has prompted promises of retaliation that could again endanger American troops in the region,” the material clarifies.
Earlier, Biden became angry with Netanyahu before the phone call. It is clarified that the cause was an Israeli strike on the World Central Kitchen (WCK) humanitarian convoy.
