The most important news will come later
Carlos Sainz he arrives at Suzuka on the wings of enthusiasm after the victory in Melbourne, the third of his career. “This circuit is my favorite because you pay dearly for every mistake – explained the Ferrari driver – I can't wait to go to the track.”
The Spaniard believes that Red Bull still has a bit of a margin over the SF-24, especially on a track like Suzuka: “In Australia we looked very strong – he explained in the press conference – but the first three races must be averaged and I think we are two tenths behind Red Bull and above all on tracks like this we still need an improvement to be able to counter the RB20s. I think the work done by the team this year is extremely good, because the car is a great step forward. We just need something more if we want to win at circuits like this. Updates on the car? We have something small at the rear (on the suspension, an aerodynamic change), the most important updates will come later in the season and we hope they are another step in the right direction.”
Sainz did not make any statements regarding the future at the level of market: “We're talking to pretty much everyone. It's just a matter of delving into the details and seeing which options are the most realistic and which are best for me and my future, but as of now there's nothing new. It's obvious that the time has come to speed up the process.”
