Ip Gruppo api and the Australian fund Macquarie Capital create a joint venture for the electrification of service areas on urban and extra-urban roads. The new company is called IPlanet and it will be responsible for over 500 IP service areas throughout Italy, where traditional fuel stations will be integrated with electric charging stations.
The transformation of the entire portfolio will be completed by 2032. The joint venture already envisages an investment plan of 200 million euros over the next three years, supported by numerous Italian and international financial institutions, which will serve to bring fast and ultrafast electric charging to top 300 service stations.
“We are enthusiastic about the start of this new adventure in the field of sustainable mobility, which gives a measure of the concreteness of our commitment to the transition”, comments Ugo Brachetti Peretti, president of Ip Gruppo api.
The development of charging infrastructure will take place at service stations located on urban and extra-urban roads, near commercial or densely trafficked areas. The aim is to allow travelers to refuel in around 15 minutes, reducing waiting times and facilitating greater use of the electric car.
In addition to the charging stations for electric cars, new services for travelers will be provided in the IPlanet stations in the fields of catering, shopping and car care.
Furthermore, in numerous service areas, electricity will be supplied by solar panels installed on site, and managed by battery storage systems to allow optimal use of the renewable source.
