Today is the last day of Jim Ryan within Sony Interactive Entertainment, and therefore of PlayStation, with whom he worked for about 30 years. Ryan held various roles within the company, rising to become CEO, a position he held for five years after Shawn Layden's departure.
He sits in his place now Hiroki Totokiwho has already firmly taken over the reins of the company.
A key figure
For better or for worse, Ryan has represented a lot for PlayStation in recent years, bringing the brand to peaks never reached before in terms of success and revenues and at the same time marking some forced turning points whose effects are proving problematic, such as the one towards live service.
Ryan got to say hello to PlayStation fans in the latest episode of official podcast of the brandin which he recounted his past and in which he said he was proud of PS5going so far as to say that it could become the most successful console ever for Sony: “I believe that the games and gaming experiences on PS5, first and foremost those from PlayStation Studios, are the best we have ever seen.”
Ryan also said that the amount of games released so far on PS5 by PlayStation Studios, at this point in the console's life cycle, is greater than we have ever seen in the past and that things will improve in the future thanks to investments and acquisitions facts: “We are in a strong position and I believe the future is bright.”
That said, Ryan is also happy to know that PlayStation is in good hands, meaning that the management is strong and made up of excellent individuals.
