As we well know, the TV series de Game of thrones has achieved great success over the years, but towards the end many fans criticized the choices made by the writing team, also attributing a decline to the fact that the content was completely original, given that the final novels of the saga have not yet arrived. After a long time, series co-creators DB Weiss and David Benioff talked about the the final and how they handled the situation.
Benioff said: “We knew it would be controversial, but we were hoping there would be a 50/50 split. I think we were hoping for a better percentage of… We definitely didn't want there to be a lot of hate, but we were prepared for some of it.”
Game of Thrones writers shunned fans
Earlier this year, the two talked about how they not only focused on the support they received from HBO (the show's producer) to protect themselves from criticism, but how they intentionally avoided fan reactions on the Internet.
“You always hope that everyone loves whatever you do, and it would have been great if 100% of people loved it, but they didn't,” Benioff confessed to The Hollywood Reporter of the online reaction to season eight. “One can thus remain mired in public opinion that you spend your whole life Googling things and trying to find people who think one way or another.”
In the meantime, Game of Thrones is growing with various spin-offs, first and foremost House of the Dragon.
