The first Tokyo E-Prix of 2024 will mark a major milestone for the Jaguar TCS Racing team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship: their 100th match in the championship. Jaguar returned to motorsport in 2016, joining Formula E in the championship's third season. Since then, the team has made great progress becoming one of the leading manufacturers and one of the leading teams in the competition dedicated to all-electric cars. So far, Jaguar TCS Racing has achieved 13 wins, 36 podiums and a total of 1,139 points in the last 99 races.
100 GP also for some people on the team
The Tokyo E-Prix will also represent the 100th race for some key members of the Jaguar TCS Racing team, including the New Zealand driver Mitch Evans and Team Principal James Barclay, both present since the beginning of the team's adventure. Mitch Evans personally achieved ten victories and 26 podiums, becoming one of the most successful drivers in Jaguar's history. In all of his 100 races, he worked closely with track engineer Josep Roca.
For this celebration, both Mitch and Nick will be wearing customized racing suits bearing the names of team members and racing partners. Additionally, Mitch and Nick's Jaguar I-TYPE 6s will have special liveries to commemorate this 100th race.
Running to do research
For the past eight seasons, Jaguar TCS Racing has been dedicated to innovating and improving electric vehicle technology, both on the track and on the road. Through their “Race to Road” strategy, the team is helping to shape the future of mobility by testing technologies that will be directly applied to the next generation of Jaguar electric vehicles destined for the road. This is an exciting time outside of racing too, as Jaguar prepares to become an all-electric luxury brand in 2025.
The Tokyo E-Prix will take place on the streets surrounding the Tokyo Bay waterfront. The 2,582km circuit features 18 challenging corners, including an initial test sector from T1 to T8. Japan has a long tradition in motorsport and Jaguar TCS Racing is thrilled to contribute to a new chapter in Japanese motorsport as part of Formula E, which will be the first world championship to race on the iconic streets of Tokyo.
Nick Cassidy of Home
The Tokyo E-Prix will also mark the return of Nick Cassidy in the country where he built his reputation as a pilot. The 29-year-old raced in Japan from 2015 to 2020 and is the only driver to have won the prestigious “Triple Crown”, taking the Formula 3, Super Formula and Super GT titles. At the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix, Nick aims to continue his formidable climb to new records.
