The anti-violence centers have requested an apology and a correction from Mediaset. This is what it is about and why there is so much urgency after the words of Michelle Hunziker.
During his last appearance at very truein the episode of Sunday 3 March, Michelle Hunziker discussed the Double Defense Foundation. The actress and showgirl is co-founder with the lawyer and senator Giulia Bongiorno. During the interview, a statement she made sparked an immediate reaction from the anti-violence centers. Immediately afterwards, those directly involved requested an apology and a correction from Mediaset. This is what it is about and why there is so much urgency in the request made to the television network.
During the interview conducted by Silvia Toffanin, Michelle Hunziker spoke about the work with Doppia Difesa. This is the association with which, says the showgirl and presenter, “we didn't stop even during Covid”. Hunziker, in fact, a very true tells:
When all the anti-violence centers were rightly closed. […] We worked to help women in difficulty on a psychological level who were within four walls, closed with their tormentors in their homes, not really knowing what to do. We never disappeared, we tried to help. This is my life plan. Double Defense is not a game.
It will be the first sentence to generate a reaction from DIRe, Women Networking Against Violence. It is one of the large, perhaps the largest association to defend women's rights and protect those who are victims of physical, psychological and economic violence.
To say. after exit a very true by Michelle Hunziker, expressed “dismay” at Hunziker's statements. The association points out that all anti-violence centers in the DiRe network remained open and operational throughout the entire pandemic. In essence, the work of the centers did not stop, leaving only the operational activity to Doppia Difesa, as Hunziker's statement would imply. It is read in a press release issued by DIRe:
We didn't stop even during Covid, when all the anti-violence centers were rightly closed,' said the showgirl. This is an erroneous statement, since all the anti-violence centers in the DiRe network remained open and never stopped operations throughout the pandemic. […] In light of the obvious unfoundedness of the statements heard last night on Verissimo, the DiRe Network asks Mediaset to urgently rectify what Hunziker reported, in order not to ignore the enormous work carried out uninterruptedly by the operators of the anti-violence centers in the difficult phase of the health emergency .
Hunziker's statements were therefore labeled as “the result of unforgivable misinformation”. This is why there was an urgent request for rectification. Michelle Hunziker subsequently released some clarifications and information apology through a note spread by Ansa:
With reference to the interview given on Sunday 3 March during the Verissimo broadcast, Michelle Hunziker simply wanted to refer to the extreme difficulty of continuing to provide help to women victims of violence and of continuing to be a point of reference for them during the pandemic. You therefore apologize for having mistakenly used the adjective 'everyone' regarding anti-violence centers and you have the utmost respect and appreciation for all centers that help women.
