The developer Sumo Nottingham announced its intention to interrupt development of the video game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sumo Nottingham has stated that he will finish his work on the game “shortly”. Work on the game will continue under the leadership of a new developeralthough Gun Interactive has not yet announced which one.
This news was surprising for a number of reasons, including the fact that the game has been available for less than a year, so the transition from one developer to another is occurred quickly (the announcement is today, but clearly everything had to have been in preparation for at least a few months).
“This doesn't change plans for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in terms of support, content or longevity,” Gun Interactive said.
Even though it's not exactly the same scenario, It's not the first time that Gun Interactive has been involved in a situation of this type. Prior to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Gun Interactive released Friday the 13th: The Game, developed by IllFonic. Not long after the announcement, in 2018, it was revealed that the game would no longer receive new content, however IllFonic withdrew from the project and Black Tower Studios confirmed that it would take over development.
