Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted the advances in security that the Fourth Transformation has achieved, denying the fake news who try to link this management with organized crime.
“I want to talk to you today about this campaign that has been going on for a few weeks, or maybe a week and a half, where there has been talk on social networks about an alleged link between drug traffickers and the President of the Republic,” said the presidential candidate.
“And with these hashtags that, you have already seen, that everything has been shown to be absolutely false, even the White House yesterday came out to say that a report that had appeared in the New York Times was false, but this idea that they want to raise that we have not made any progress on the security issue.
In a message through social networks, the Morena candidate and her allies pointed out that, according to figures from the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI), the perception of insecurity in the country and in Mexico City has decreased considerably.
“Of course we have to continue moving forward, it is still a figure that has to continue decreasing, but there has been a decrease in the perception of insecurity, that is, more people in Mexico feel safe today than in 2018,” said Sheinbaum.
The National Urban Security Survey (ENSU) of the INEGI revealed that the perception of insecurity at the national level went from 76.8 percent in 2018 to 59.1 percent, while in Mexico City, the decrease was even more significant, falling from 92.3 percent to 55.3 percent.
The former head of Government explained that these results demonstrate that the strategies implemented are giving concrete results in the population's perception of security.
However, the UNAM scientist acknowledged that there is still a lot of work to do to continue improving the situation.
In addition to highlighting the achievements in security, Sheinbaum pointed out that the government's efforts have focused on the construction of the Nation Project, in which citizen participation through the Dialogues for Transformation has been fundamental.
This project will be officially presented next Friday, March 1, coinciding with the start of his campaign for the Presidency of the Republic, in an event that will take place in the Zócalo of Mexico City.
“We are inviting you, it is the beginning of our campaign for the Presidency of the Republic, Friday, March 1 at 4 in the afternoon in the Zócalo of Mexico City, we will see you there, because there we are going to begin this great process that will culminate in June of this year,” concluded Sheinbaum.
