Weather | The flow coming from the south brought fog to the center of Helsinki

On Friday it rains a lot in Helsinki and on Saturday it freezes.

Helsinki Töölönlahti was once again covered in heavy fog on Thursday morning, with a mild southerly flow in the background, says the meteorologist on duty Helena Laakso From the Institute of Meteorology.

“There is a lot of fog now in the entire southern part of the country.”

With the Lauha flow, there is moisture in the air, and the snow has perhaps started to melt a little, as the temperature has come close to zero, Laakso estimates. The winds are also weak, so they don't blow the fog away.

Ruined the weather will continue in Helsinki, because on Friday afternoon, low pressure will bring icy rain and rain.

There is plenty of water coming in, says Laakso.

The rain will continue overnight into Saturday. It will be freezing again on Saturday, so the rained water seems to freeze on the streets.

It will be very slippery weather.

“You have to be especially careful if it's raining on the ice.”
