A group including people who were released from Gaza and relatives of Israelis who were kidnapped by Hamas in October 2023 and still remain under the control of terrorists visited the International Criminal Court (ICC), in The Hague, Netherlands, this Wednesday (14), to ask the agency's prosecutor to file charges and order the arrest of the leaders of the Palestinian terrorist group.
The group, called the Forum of the Families of the Hostages and Disappeared, said in a statement that it had filed a complaint with the court against the terrorists that covers crimes such as hostage taking, forced disappearances, sexual violence and torture.
“We want to ensure that the world acts and that their freedom [dos terroristas do Hamas] be harmed,” he told the agency Reuters, Udi Goren, who is the cousin of a person who was kidnapped by the Palestinian terrorist group, before leaving for The Hague. “We want to ensure that Hamas leaders are taken into custody or are no longer allowed to leave Qatar and that this puts pressure on them to release the hostages,” he added.
Karim Khan, ICC prosecutor, stated last year that he is already investigating possible war crimes committed by both sides in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which was triggered by the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel in October.
Despite Israel not being a member of the ICC and not recognizing its jurisdiction, the court ruled that it could judge actions related to the October terrorist attacks.
Around 136 people are still under the control of the terrorist group Hamas. Of these, at least 27 may already be dead, according to information from Israeli intelligence services.
