Welcome to the 2024 elections, comments the director of the institute that conducted the survey.
About one in three Republicans believe in a conspiracy theory that Taylor Swift is part of a conspiracy to help a Democrat Joe Biden to win the upcoming presidential elections. American Swift is one of the world's most popular singers.
Among all Americans, one in five believes in a conspiracy, according to a recent study conducted by Monmouth University in New Jersey inquiry. 73 percent of these people also believe that the 2020 election result was a lie. So they believe that the Republican Donald Trump's should have won the 2020 election, but the Democrats cheated the win for Biden.
The conspiracy theory really gained momentum during the Super Bowl, which was played on Sunday. According to the conspiracy theory, the US administration had pre-arranged the Kansas City Chiefs to win the game (the team eventually won the game with fair play). Chiefs star player Travis Kelce is dating Swift, and according to the conspiracy, Kelce would have proposed to Swift at the Super Bowl and Swift would have publicly endorsed Biden.
Kelce did not propose and Swift did not announce his support for the sitting president. Although Swift supported Biden in the presidential election four years ago.
“The Taylor Swift conspiracy theory has a reasonable number of believers among Trump supporters. Even many who had never heard of a conspiracy before the survey said it was plausible,” director of the Monmouth University polling institute Patrick Murray says in the announcement.
“Welcome to the 2024 elections.”
Two 3 in 3 respondents agree that Swift is encouraging her fans to vote in the upcoming election. Swift has done this over the years.
According to the survey, the issue is more acceptable among Democrats than among Republicans.
Overall, about 39 percent of Americans like Swift. 13 percent do not like it, and 43 percent have no opinion about the singer. Five percent had never heard of the superstar.
902 adult US citizens answered the survey. The survey was conducted by telephone between 8 and 12. February. The Super Bowl was played on February 11.
