Television Review | Writer Truman Capote betrayed his social circle friends, and a juicy story comes out of it

The new Feud series features a lot of top actors.

Truman Capote has always been the favorite child of American culture. The brilliant writer rose from miserable beginnings to become a beloved storyteller in New York's social circles, and especially the women flocked around him. Capote did not hide his homosexuality.

Capote is known Breakfast at Tiffany's -from his short novel, which was made into a Hollywood film, Audrey Hepburn in the main role. The film was a polished romance, and Capote reportedly didn't like it.

Capote's literary magnum opus was a documentary novel In cold blood. In it, he plunged terrifyingly deep into the murder of a Kansas farming family, and the result was a new literary genre.

However, Capote fell increasingly into alcohol and drugs. The boundaries between reality, fiction and ethics became blurred, and famous friends got their share of this.

What What happened to Capote? This is discussed in the drama series, which is the second part of the series Feudin the anthology. Feud means a long grudge, a battle of spirits. The name of the series is Capote vs. The Swanswhere the latter party refers to New York's gossiping female gang.

In the year 1975 on Capote's future Answered Prayers -parts of the novel were published in which he revealed embarrassing things about his friends' private lives and marriages.

Especially the Vogue editor, with cancer Babe Paley felt that she had been humiliated, and the women broke up with their trusted friend. They vowed revenge and succeeded in it too. Capote bottomed out and died at the age of 59 in 1984, but who got the last word?

Eight part the series is based on by Laurence Leamer to a bestseller, and it has tough factors. It's scripted Jon Robin Baitz and the first four episodes have directed Gus van Sant, both queer authors. He directs the end episodes Jennifer Lynch, by David Lynch daughter. Feud– behind the anthology idea is a producer-writer Ryan Murphy.

The cast is also quite, even uneven.

You will be seen as “swans” in the main roles Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloe Sevigny and Calista Flockhart and in supporting roles, among other things Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald. British actress Russell Tovey does a terrifying role as Capote's abusive lover.

Babe Paley (Naomi Watts, right), CZ Guest (Chloë Sevigny) and Slim Keith (Diane Lane) had a falling out with Truman Capote when Capote wrote revelations about his girlfriend in the novel Answered Prayers.

Capote A acting T
om Hollander, and it's a place on the screen for him, it would be for anyone. In the background, in mental images, the person who died exactly ten years ago is haunting Philip Seymour Hoffman insane performance of 2005 Capotein the film, and Hollander has said in interviews that he first watched the film with the eye of what will actually be left for him.

The task is not made easier by the fact that Capote's habitus was really theatrical to the point of straining. Gus Van Sant has even let Hollander drag it a bit, but Hollander keeps the role under control nicely.

There were only two episodes to watch, and based on them, Babe Paley and C.Z Guest, which are perfectly interpreted by Naomi Watts and Chloë Sevigny. The character of Calista Flockhart is Lee Radziwill, Jacqueline Kennedy sister.

The question of the series is the same as always in social circle photography: how to describe superficial people in depth? Gus Van Sant is a master at portraying outrageous human relationships, and getting ugly is becoming more and more popular now.

Bitterness grows at the same time as sophisticated food portions are served.

Joan Crawford and Bette Davis co-starred in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? – in the film in 1962. The first part of the Feud anthology, Bette and Joan (2017), tells about the two's quarrels during the making of the film and afterwards. Starring Jessica Lange (left) as Crawford and Susan Sarandon as Davis.

First Feud-series Bette and Joan (2017) depicted two Hollywood actors, Joan Crawford's and Bette Davis quarrel, and were seen in the main roles Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange. Lange now also appears in Truman Capote's delusions as a mean mother.

Feud-the first and second parts of the anthology series have such a long time difference that it is quite impossible to recognize their connection. However, there is one thing that unites them: the subject area. Mixed Bette and Joan that Capote vs. The Swans digs into the backgrounds and hidden contradictions of stardom. The time period is accurate, and the genre could be described as aesthetic gossip.

At some point we were waiting Feudseries also prince of Charles and About Dianabut it didn't happen, perhaps of The Crown because of.
