The Federal Police (PF) launched an operation this Tuesday, 6th, in the city of Aracruz, in Espírito Santo, with the purpose of investigating the person who opened a 'fundraiser' on the internet to hire a mercenary who would kill President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
According to the PF, the investigation began with a post on social media that promoted the idea of a collaborative fund to finance the attack against the president. In compliance with the order issued by the Espírito Santo Court, the police authorities went to the residence of the person being investigated and seized his computer and cell phone.
The suspect, according to the PF, collaborates with the investigations, and confirmed the authorship of the publication. His identity is kept confidential.
The operation was named Echo, in reference to Greek mythology, specifically to a young woman who talked too much.
In August 2023, the PF also arrested farmer Arilson Strapasson for threatening the President of the Republic. The person under investigation reportedly said he was going to 'shoot' Lula and even tried to find out the hotel where the PT member stayed in Santarém, Pará, for the Amazon Summit.
